I've decided to ditch my current kit the ADL c/ku corotor, Cal amp Ku wideband lnb {Model:150297} and Cal amp C wideband lnb {Model:140105-1} as the servo motor is faulty, so this gives me good a excuse to upgrade :)

Info on my satellite antenna: Orbitron 3.6m MicroMesh. F/D ration: 0.36.

I was thinking of getting a savey c/ku corotor SVY-ESR124H but then thought to myself, i hardly use c-band nowadays don't have the time for feedhunting, might aswell save the cash since were all going through tough times with this credit crunch )(-red .

This is what i've decided to upgrade with:

_http://www.smw.se/WDL.htm"]WDL type E F-connectors @ High stability LO. +/-1.5Mhz Part Number 122520

_http://www.smw.se/feedhorn.htm"]SMW XM-140 Prime focus Feedhorn Part Number 220120

_http://www.chaparral.net/products/feedhorns/ku.html"]Chaparral's Ku-Wideband Polarotor - Part Number 11-4871-1

_http://www.chaparral.net/products/feedhorns/kuwideband.html"]Chaparral's Ku-Wideband Polarotor Mounting Kit - Part Number 62-2301-1

Since you the man for SMW stuff :) also do i need to purchase the _http://www.smw.se/feedhorn.htm Quarterwave transformer - Part Number 230110 for the above kit ?? just need a second opinion as i think i don't but i might be wrong.

Maybe you or anyone else could recommend any other kit which i'm not aware of on the market. At the moment i'm just looking and researching for the best kit for my setup.

Thanx in advance

Regards

BoSS

no if You'll buy XM-145 feedhorn wich is with quarterwave transformer integrated :)

If You don't have time for feedhunting (same as I'm experiencing from some time) do You really need WDL lnb? two cables, not so easy switching bands without loosing power etc. I would stay with X-line type E +-1Mhz or if You have some really extra money X-PLL.
About C-band LNB I would upgrade to Norsat's one like DRO or PLL
I had one 8215 and worked very well for cist about 120$. PLL will be like 2 times more expensive.

Thanx m8.

I've looked at datasheet, interestingly how they state this lnb won't be available after December 2008, any one know why ? No mention of future production of new x-line product on their website maybe they discontinuing this model.

They're concentrating production on PLL LNBs now. NFs are still rated at 0.8dB, although the X-lines came in two versions, 0.65 or 0.8dB.

I have the 0.65dB 'B' version, which compares very well with modern so-called low NF Universals.

Conjecture, but maybe SMW still use their HP 807B noise and gain analyser unable to read noise figures below .65dB, so perhaps the actual noise reading is actually better than the stated values.

SMW ones are difficult to source now I believe. I think I still have one somewhere.
