Hi,
I am located at 60.5 north and the mounting on my dish makes it difficult to point low enough for Astra 2 even after rearranging the parts. So i have had to adjust the angle by tilting the mounting pole.
Just saw an article that advocated inverting the dish in this situation.
Any opinions?

You could do that as it's one way.

If the dish has two "U" bolts for the dish to pole mount you can use a spacer at the top one to tilt the dish further down to the ground, a longer "U" bolt may be needed, and the spacer should be something that will stand up to the weather and the stress.

Some have had some luck using the cheap plastic kitchen cutting boards, (as they are hard enough and strong) a piece or pieces can be cut to fit and used to move the top of the mount further out from the mast, this will add a few more degrees to the lower elevation adjustment, aluminum can also be used if you can find a thick enough piece.

The only drawback to mounting things 180 degrees out is the possibility of water getting into the LNB's.

You can always rotate the LNB 180 degrees to stop the water getting in.

Just to say I did try the dish with the arm at the top but it filled up with snow!
Reinstalling it carefully the right way up did improve my reception though.

I have installed dishes on their side (90 degrees) in such a situation and then turned the LNB accordingly.

If the dish is on it's side where does the dish face point in relation to the satellite? Slightly further east/west depending on which way up? Never seen this before.

The dish face would be between 20 and 30 degrees off the actual line of site. It takes a bit of fiddling to get the support pole in the right direction as well unless you have a 90 degree wall mount.
