I tested Prodelin 3.8 M VSAT antenna for receiving Hotbird and others satellites this is the no 3.8 Meter Rx/Tx C and Ku-Band, Series 1385.
Moradad did you use a matched feedhorn that will illuminate the 3.8m offset correctly? I mean an LNB system that is designed for this large dish. Even at 2.4 m offset It is not easy to get a matched feedhorn. So I guess you used a professional LNB that you ordered from the manufacturer/supplier.
We use 3.8m at C band and there is a marked difference between it and a 2.4M.

When I went to Prodelin office we used there Special Feedhorn with Inverto Special KU lnb which fits with that feedhorn. I replaced the feedhorn with Normal KU lnb , Amazing thing was there LNB+Feeedhorn were giving us less signal compared to out LNB.

As far as The Solid Man mande dish we use, we use only Normal Ku lnb with that.

I also tried Prime Focus ku LNb and many brand Ku LNB's on the dish.

It is beginning to look as though the dish has been assebled incorrectly. the back-plate on the Prodelin needs to have the correct bolts and spacers installed for the four reflector surfaces to line up correctly.

The 1385 series is designed for use at all frequencies, however if you are using panels from another antenna (1381-3) then you will only have mesh in the panels that suits C Band. I recall an Indian manufacturer that makes clones of the older style Prodelin designed dish, they may not have the correct mesh installed.

Channel Hopper the above displayed dish is not Prodelin one its a local made dish which is KU antenna, Specially designed for Hotbird & other weak sats.

This antenna has Aluminimum sheets on that frame , I will load more pictures soon

Pls see the base snap of the antenna

See more snaps see how is it made

I was talking about the 4 piece Prodelin dish you used as a comparison, not the home built design.

But this home build design is performing better than prodelin 3 M dish. And cost only 350 Euros compared to prodelin which costs 2000 Euros

Once again you are not comparing like with like. a 3metre dish has over 40% less area than a 4.8m.

I agree there is 40% difference between 3 M and 4.8 M.

Please see the below Prodelin dishes snaps and let me know are these properly Assembled and is this suitable for KU band as Prodelin is claiming.

Also I have marked the Feedhorn we used with these dishes

Thanks

Firstly, the horizontal reflector mating surfaces have far too much gap between them, are you certain the right spacers are in the right places between backplate and reflector parts ?

Secondly, what numbers are stampe on the panels (I believe they are on the outer edge, though they may be rather faint)

Is this a 1385 antenna purchased from the US ?

What is the number on the feedhorn assembly and the number on the feed ?

1) Yes these antenna's are imported from US.
2) There is no number on the Panels, those are bolts which are attached to the Back assembly.
3) The gap is very less, I dont think this can loose many dB's.
4) The feedhorn is common for all Antenna;s and they are locally making it in India.

Sorry for digging an old thread. Can you tell the name of that manufacturer who cloned it? Because I am having similar dish which has exact dimensions of Prodelin 1385 but its performance is very bad in Ku and it roughly equals a 4-6ft dish!

Has it been assembled and installed by someone with experience of working with big dishes?? This is not really the sort of kit that can be self installed

It was self installed with two persons helping. In Cband I don't have the matching scalar ring to measure how it performs. With the wrong scalar ring(used Prime focus scalar ring) it performed similar to 6ft dish in few frequencies, +2db in some and -2db in some frequencies. I know that is not the way to compare but still...

For Ku I just have .6f/d lnbs. So I hope it suits it as Prodelin 1385 has .6 f/d. As this dish's major and minor diameter matches that of Prodelin 1385 I assume its F/D is also same. That why I asked the cloner's name.

This is the image of the dish.

nice to hear that you are getting Yahsat on 12 feet offset dish, but as per my news yahsat can come easily on 6 feet offset in south india around 50-60% signal then what is the use of installing a monster like 12 feet for the same, did you tried anyother fringe signal on the same dish

Thanks for your valuable reply.. Actually i'm the first to catch the Yahasat signal in south india with my 6 feet dish.signal strength is 50-55% i posted in dishtracking forum. I m trying to check the signal strength in 12 feet dish and in my area full of wind so unable to experiment currently. I need to haunt the signals in the Birds like HOTBIRD,etc so if you guide me it will be useful for me ,will you help me to use which LNB and which are all the strongest TP'S it will be useful for me to experiment to catch those birds. I saw your posts and your valuble replies in this forum for the friends. So that i posted here to get your help.If you guided me means it will be great thankful to you ...awaiting for your reply
