I agree that blind scanning is desirable but sometimes it's not practical, or at least it's not as far as I can see. Blind scanning 9E or the birds either side produce so many hits by the time you'd checked through them all the feed would more than likely have disappeared. Obviously on some of the more obscure satellites it's not a problem but it would be nice to have software that could compare the results with a transponder table to see what is temporary. The Prof 7301 I'm using is excellent for sensitivity and functionality but I still use the Skystar2 as it can blind scan, just a shame it can't BS S2.

Most blind scan receivers can give you the option to search only FTA as opposed to encrypted. Thus reducing the time taken to scan and the amount of channels added.Regards.

You're doing something wrong. First you don't scan the whole satellite, it takes too long. Even with a pretty rapid blind scan receiver it can take 10 minutes to scan the whole satelite.

Also you don't need to go through hundreds of channels to find your feeds. What you do is scan the satellite and then leave it a day. Now go through all the channels that are saved and delete any that are not active. Ok, now your box is ready to do blind scans. If it finds any feeds it will add them at the end of your channels list. Once you have done a scan go backwards from channel 1 and that's where all your feeds will be grouped. Next time you want to do a new scan delete the old feeds and then start afresh.

I am mainly chasing Championship football feeds and want to know which is the best receiver (at a reasonable price) for blind scans, it will have to find 4:2:2 feeds (without being able to view them).

I presently have a Quali TV Box for 4:2:2 but unfortunately it can't decode feeds that are in 8psk as it can only do Qpsk, i have another box for any feeds in 4:2:0.

I'm going to buy an AZBox for the 4:2:2 stuff but i've heard the hardware blind search is hard work on the premium+ and so isn't ideal.

Many thanks in advance.

you need to look at your dish setup instead of receiver as for footy feeds your looking at 2east and the satellite is inclined orbit so you need to be able to track it and lower and raise the dish to keep it locked in

quite a bit as it seems to be championship games and league 1/2 etc these are in 4:2:2. from what been found on there, not looked on it too much as it needs to be in range to pick it up at the moment.

no epl on there as think that's enc on 7e/10e.

rugby league seems to have moved there from 10e and its now in hd on 2e from what people have posted on satelliweb

need to add a actuator to my dish to get it all the time.

It's all Vipersan's fault. He set the ball rolling and now we all have to do it. Post some pics once you get done and I'll post some of mine.

I'm fine with the setup, i can receive the inclined satellites of Astra 1C and 1D, i've been messing about with them for a few months, my issue comes with being able to view games that are 4:2:2 in 8psk, i've got to the point where i already have enough receivers so i want to get things right, otherwise it involves more grief from the wife!!!!

So in short, i need to be getting the correct AZBox and also a receiver so i can do my own searches for 4:2:2 feeds.

I will try later in week.

I have added a multi LNB bracket but put it in a vertical position rather than horizontal.

see the thread here for a receiver that will blind scan for feeds and has a spectrum analyser software which will help with finding them.

http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/...be-time-start-saving-again-drhd-f15-16-a.html

have you thought about a satellite card in your pc as these will do 4:2:2.

do you receive astra 1c and 1d all the time or in certain parts of the day ?

Yes had a quick conversation with a guy called Crazy Sat last week, he said that box is the business.
