Back in 1996 during my summer vacation on my mother's birthplace, there was a terrestrial rebroadcast of the - then analog - MTV Asia which was available on Panamsat 's 68.5E C-band.
I was mesmerised by the "exotic" content which was so different from the European version.
Never in a million years (later) could I imagine I'd be watching another "exotic" asian version from the comfort of my home lol!

being partly chinese myself im over the moon to see this appear in Europe. my uncle in Hong Kong has confirmed its exactly the same version ie no time delay or anything. also must be one of the last MTVs to actually show music, even spotted some dance on there.

Are these new channels on Intelsat 10-02 Spot 3X a little weaker than the European beams of Thor for anyone else?

I can’t lock either this TP or the new 12643V one carrying TV5Monde on an offset LNB on an 80cm pointing at 5°W. Whereas stuff like the Icelandic radio stations and UPC CZ/SK/HU comes in OK.

From your location an 80cm dish is big enough maybe your dish needs to be re-aligned for maximum signal ?

Strange I don't get a trace of it on my 5302
 
Can anyone pick this up on a 60cm dish? I get the weaker channels on thor such as U Ro but no sign of mtvch?

If you mean the 5302 there is no way to do this. An advanced search on 12722 gave nothing. A blindscan for FTA TV at 3mhz. gave me 27 channels. MTV China was not one of them
 
Obviously my 5302 has a tuner fault then, it's fine on the 5402
 
Intelsat 10-02 was launched in 2004 with a predicted 13 year lifespan, so it's way after it's time....
Nothing to compare to the footprint anymore, all TPs above 12500 transmit with reduced power!

wonder why only MTV China is FTA, not that im complaining but what makes it special when all the others on that transponder are encrypted ?
 
In all honesty, I'd be very curious to see the other versions as well, if only they were temporarily FTA!

Hi - .. Or a compatibility issue between the 5302 tuner and your l.n.b - i,v had this in the past with Invacom C120 and T.M 5500 .. the l.n.b was fine on any other receiver and the receiver was fine on any other l.n.b ... but that combination had a couple of blind spots ... spent a whole afternoon verifying this ..l.o.l.
