feeds - dirty and clean path...?

i see feed names quite often referred to as "dirty path 1", or "clean path 2" - what does this mean?

on screen graphics/info, no info on screen (clean)

Dirty = with on-screen graphics etc
Clean = no graphics, so broadcasters can add their own or be used in packages (highlights, promos) where graphics aren't desirable

presume its only a rough indicator, as both clean and dirty feeds yesterday neither had on screen gfx - unless it changes during the show at certain points (i was just zapping)

Could also indicate the brothel the uplink van crew plan visiting after the event

And also,according to my experience, most of the time uplinkers forget (or don’t care about it) to rename their encoders SID….
