Fibre optic LNB

Are the fibre optic lnb's any good? And can they be used to recive ku & cband or any other bands?
 
It all depends on your dish size and the satellite your watching, some have reported a lower then normal "S" on some satellites, so you may need to go a bit bigger on the dish.

And yes they can be used for "kU" band, but there is not one available for the consumer market (as of yet) for "C" band.

Why do you need to use a fiber LNB? they are a bit costly.
 
As Terry said, KU only, no problem with them, used quite a few, the do require ideally, an 80cm dish as a minimum to obtain best signal to noise ratio.

Sorry to enter someone else's thread, but is a fibre optic lnb better say an inverto black ultra or a feed horn?? I have a standard inverto black c120 on my cm feedhorn but wondering if fibre is better (1.8m dish)
 
Not on a big dish, these LNBs are designed for in footprint signals which need distributing over a distance, or to multipoint systems, not really for domestic. Also as you invariable need to attenuate the signal prior to going into the quad or quattro converter, on satellites with multi footprints, it will tend to lose any low power frequencies.

Haven't used the C120 version, only the LNBF, but both will suffer the same problems when it comes to the converter.
