Hi

In the London area,
how do we figure out what size satellite dish is required for a multi lnb setup.
Are there any technical specifications that specify what can be done.

To see if we can get away with installing a smaller dish to save space.

thanks

Hard to say without knowing your setupbut generally an 80/90 cm dish will give you 13E / 19E / 28E without any problems

What setup do you have at the moment and what are you hoping for?

You can fit six lnbs on a 90cm, if you are choosy about which satellite you pick, and which LNBs you use. Three or four is the normal amount though.

Also, the Orbital platinum with a homemade bracket does OK too, possible to get 13,19 and 28 on it, and its a very small dish.

Have an exisiting 60cm satellite on 9e,

So looking to get 9e,and 28e, on the 60cm, with the cheap sharp's quad lnbs.

Then later maybe adding 13e and 19e.

the orbital platinum seems a viable alternative 57cm, do you think it will stretch to 9e with 28e?

thanks

You will not be able to get 9e and 13E on a 60cm as there is not enough room.

I don't think the Platinum will do 9E +28, but not tried.

hello,
with a toroidal dish you can receive many more possions.
it will cost more and you will need a profesional to aligne the lnbs properly as well.
a free to air receiver will have multl diseq switch tones to switch the lnbs as well.
sky box will not do it at all.

Managed 28e and 13e on a 60cm (just) but very much doubt you'll pull in 9e.

good advice and test out.

has anyone used the inverto multiconnect, do you reckon that 9e and 28e can be done with their kit on a 60cm?

as looking at their manual, it mentions that for a 60cm dish the maximum spacing is 30 degrees, but for some reason the larger 80cm has a reduced spacing of only 22 degrees.

thanks

Bigger dish = smaller beamwidth.

That might have something to do with it.

The inverto kit is just a convenient means of holding the LNBs and adjusting them. It won't make something work that is inherently a failure.

i.e 9E and 28E on a 60cm, pushing it whatever bracketry is used.

The reason they state 30 degrees on a 60cm dish, but less on a 80cm dish, appears to be purely a mechanical reason.

The bracket is a fixed length, on a 60cm this will equate to 30 degrees, on an 80cm, 22 degrees.

Because the LNB is further away from the dish on an 80cm, thus the physical separation between the LNBs for a certain angle is more.

Why not have a look at what our supporting advertisers have to offer, a lot of the satellite kit sold on ebay is of low quality (even the stuff marked as high quality), incorrectly described and often unsuitable for purpose.

For example, how can a dish on which both vertical and horizontal measurements are less than 80cm, be described as 80cm, it's a 70cm and what does "strong" mean? The LNB you quote above is designed for Sky minidishes and in fairness the advertiser does mention this somewhere in his description, so not suitable for your purposes and in any case you would find difficulty getting two of these close enough together to receive 9 and 13 east.

You really need to look at Bullet LNBs like the inverto multiconnect, or ALPS with suitable bracket. If you are using a Sky digibox as well as a standard receiver, you could use a 4 degree monoblock for 9/13 and feed Astra 28.,2 using an LNB on an offset arm.
