Finding satellite by manually moving dish through box.

My Satellite Setup
1M Dish with Motek 2100,
DM 500 & DM 800HD, Vu+ Duo,
Digital+, Sky+, TDT, Saorview
My Location
Dublin
On the D800 in the positioner setup menu (not the one were you enter lat and long) but the one were you can set limits and move the dish east or west.

If I move the dish through this method and find a satellite and then click the store position button will I have this satellite saved on my sat list to use when I want or saved in the positioner setup menu.

Basically I just want to make sure by finding a satellite this way and hitting store position that it wont mess up my USALS lat and long. Getting confused because of the menu name "Positioner setup" being the same as the one you enter lat and long for USALS.

OK, if you set your tuner config to Simple, Rotor , and enter lat and long. Your box will not use any stored positions. The stored positions you make only come into play when NOT using USALS. If you create any stored positions it will not affect USALS.

Referred to as DISEqC 1.2
Usals software calculates the positions of all satellites with reference to the installation site :)
 
Ok so if I store a satellite position then I presume I must go back into the menu and swith from USALS to DISEqC to move to that position ?

The reason I am doing this is because on my D800 if I select 16E when the motor moves to that position the quality is slightly less and the BER is around 600,000. But if I select 16E on my old D500 then the BER is zero! I think something must have happened when I done a Hard reset with the D800 connected to the motor on tuesday.
 
What I do in these cases (my dish mount is not exactly straight) is set the latitude a little bit further to the east or west (depending what you want to do) until I get the best results. On some sats if I move the dish manually a few ticks I get even better reception, and these I might store manually. Ideally you should go up the roof, set the motor straight to the south and do a reset, and try again. On some images you also have a possibility to recalculate the rest of the sats by the current position.
