I have problems with my own, so I wonder is there any update for this digital receiver?
Or software/firmware from some other receiver that will work?

Pop the top off and see if there are bulging capacitors in the power supply area - Thomsons have a terrible reputation for these failures here in the UK.

I'll check it out. I was watching movie someday (mp4, ac3 format) and after 1 hour of movie, sound delayed from video...on my pc it works fine so it's not problem with movie. I tought firmware update will fix that.
What if there are capacitors?

Its obvious if the caps are bulging (They are the cylindrical things with T or K embossed in the top) They should all be completely flat. If in doubt there are plenty of pictures on the web of failed ones.

They can be replaced with new, non-bulging, ones. You need some soldering skills though.

Well, if it really is under Warranty, then exercise your Consumer Rights.

Eh, I tought there will be some possible solution with new firmware. Cause I have to drive about 100 kilometers for that warranty.
It's a little bit odd anyway, everything else is working fine.

But it has warranty seal on it, now I see.
How old is the box? If it's outside its warranty period then the seal will have no validity.

Changing the firmware may also invalidate the warranty.

But I can return it on original firmware and nobody will know.

Not, about month and half.

Then it won't be the capacitors bulging due to age. That's not to say that the box isn't faulty though and, if it is, it should be returned to the suppliers for exchange or refund.

To see if there is new firmware you will have to go to Thomson's website and look for downloads there. Compare the dates and revision number with what is installed in your box (you will probably find that information in the set-up section of the box menu) and then follow the instructions for updating the firmware if there is a newer one available.

How are you playing movies? Is it through your home network of off a USB drive of some kind? If off a USB drive maybe try a different one. If off the network and, if it is connected to the Internet, look for an option to update the firmware directly from the menu somewhere.

I'm watching over usb drive, tried other one I have at home, same thing. But it's the same only on mp4 format video, avi works fine.
There is no new firmware on their website. Probably I should wait when new one comes out.

Have you reported this issue to Thomson, so they know it needs addressing?

Thank you all for your help, I'll post a reply when they answer me. So if anybody else is experiencing this kind of problem, this thread can be helpful to them.
Lock after that :)
