Seriously though, if one side of the arc is missing (as it looks) then have you checked that complex extension you put on from the O/P shaft?. It looks like it has the potential to put your dish off square slightly (almost like an S bend effect) if you are not very careful when tightening it up.

Oh - have you got the line amp in ??

Looks like the motor inclination is wrong.

just going for a brew,
how is the motor inclination wrong when it's set accrding to manual,
unless the manuals wrong:-doh!
i'm seriouly thinking about setting up as moteck angle, and working out declination of dish from that,
see you in half hour

Well either that or your arc is skewed to one side or the other, you need to locate 28.2E and then try tilting the dish up and down to see which one improves it, then try the other side and see which one gains an improvement.

Don't want to repeat myself or contradict any advice given to you by others, but since I have my dish working from 51w to 53 east it seems to work:
If you are in the UK, use 1 West. Put in your long/lat in the disecq settings and choose BBC world for station. Motor will move to a position. Set the motor angle according to manufacturer. Set the dish angle by moving it slowly up and down / sideways with someone helping you if you cannot see the TV, don"t use the degree numbers on the dish.
If the pole is straight you will then have all the sats. This is how i done it, never used any sat meters or anything.

I dont know about your particular mount, but I think that the markings that are stamped on brackets generally, may not be as acurate as we might think. With manufacturing tolerances etc. I think we would be lucky to end up within +/- 1deg of the desired angle.

I couldn't agree more John, in fact I think you would be lucky if they were that close + - Diana Ross would be more like it or or should that 3 degrees?

I got an SG1200 and the two dishes I put on had no markings on whatsoever. This is why I put the motor angle in, and then found the dish angle with a satellite. I think that putting in both values and then hoping it will be spot on is too much for this motor and dishes. I find it extremely easy to find satellites with the dreambox, all you need to do is know the general direction of the sat (always use neighbours dishes for reference, or use a compass). If you get the motor one right you will be ok.

What is the situation now with your dish?

just a quick update, (i'm off to play darts)
the markings on the motor are a bag of sh*te (as yeshi would say)
i have now found 30w so having got 28.2e, i'm edging towards a full arc, getting ready for fine adjustments (tommorrow)
incidently i was looking at toppers set (brilliant wiper motor ), but it struck that he mustn't have any skew(is the the word) on his dish at all, (which of course has got me thinking) after i've got set up right, i might get straight peice of pole, put it on motor instead of bent one realigne dish and motor and see wheather it makes that much diff

I am sure that Topper will get the same skew on his dish as any other correctly set up system.
The skew comes from the turning axis of the system being at an inclined angle. In systems that use the motor as the pivot the motor is set at an angle, Toppers set up has pivot axis, which although seperate from his drive motor, is also set at an inclined angle.
Bent shafts or straight shafts do not have any effect on skew, there is only one axis and everything fastened to the motor shaft moves on that axis.

:( 43w cannot find,
i'm using fast satfinder program with the vbox as a stand alone positioner, is it worth running lnb into vbox then out into ss2 just while i finish tweaking (ie would it help me)
