Five are looking at going to Pay TV for all their channels

LOL, well they'll charge themselves into oblivion. I really can't see anyone going over to pay TV on the basis of receiving Five, it doesn't have the content. ITV considered it and said the sums don't add up, at least at the present time, as they'd lose at least 50% of their advertising revenue straight away, perhaps more.

If there is insufficient money from advertising revenue then there are three options

1 Subsidy from license fee
2 Pay TV
3 Close down

If ITV, Five (and even Channel 4) all decided to move to Pay TV then I think a fairly large audience would move with them. ITV have looked into it but ruled it out at present but that could easily change if the other two groups were to change as well. Channel 4 have been financially challenged for years and only managed to launch Channel 4HD with assistance from Sky.

This bits interesting:

We are looking to consolidate or potentially go pay,

which is the worst performing C5 channel, looks like at least one could be jettisoned.
