My 7025 does not boot anymore.
It hangs up with the following messages on the dispaly:

dhcp...
BOOT #61 (20080521)
/flash/bootlogo.elf

it was running on gemini 4.3
any idea? should I try reflashing with the latest image?

Hi there. I had exactly that problem sometime ago. It turned out that the power supply was on its way out. I got the power supply replaced by Dream Multimedia (for free) and not had the problem since. I also use the gemini image but your box isn't booting that far. Good luck.

thanks I have seen your previous post but I was hoping it was somenthing different.

I bough the box second hand. Do you think dreammedia would still replace the psu? The guy that sold it to me had the psu replaced in January could it be sometnhing else?

Is it worth trying reflashing? I am a bit sad now.

Hi giacbus,
You could try and re-flash your box, but it probably wont work as its not booting properly.
The problem with the power supply (the original version) is that it overheats and then eventually fails slowly but surely. The power supply was redesigned and the newer version runs much cooler. If you have the old version fitted the case above it gets very hot. The new one just gets warm.
You can tell by this method which version you have. (i have both versions and can tell you the part numbers if you need them.) Have you tried removing the power from the box and letting the power supply go cold? Then try re-booting, see if that works. If you have the old version of the power supply them then email dream via there web site and explain the problem. They may replace it for free (you have to fit it yourself, but thats not difficult).

really appreciated and please keep supporting me in the next few weeks untill I solve this probelm (hopefully). you have obviously being going through the same pain.

now I have a recipt from the guy I bought it showing that the power supply was changed in January 09 (one of the usual dealers).
I can put my hand on the box and it is warm, a bit difficult to quantify. I would not say it is hot.

yesterday I press the ch up on the box and the messages stop flicking and now it says 198.168.2.3 ***STOP**.
I have tryed to connect via LAN (router) and it came up with a recovery screen that let me reflash. I have tryed with gemini4.3 and the original firmware form dream. In both cases completes ok (100%) but when I reboot same problem.

I have also tryed as you suggested to unplug for long time.
I have contacted dream, will see what they say
Not sure what elese to try

If you can tell me the part number of the power supply (it's printed on the printed circuit board) then I can tell you if its an old version or a new one.
I can compare with the numbers on my power supplys (I have both types).

I just don't get it.
I can basically ping the box

I have tryed to relfash using the DM7025 bootloader Web Interface. I hit the firmware upgrade at the bottom link and selected the factory release_20071025.nfi image. I used firefox. It completed ok 100% but when I rebooted it was still stuck at

192.168.2.3
*** STOP **

any idea? do people still think it is a power supply issue? please help, thanks.

Well the good news is that you have the latest power supply fitted. So you can probably rule that out.

By the way if the power supply is working but the voltage rails are outside the limits then thats what caused my failure..

This usually only happens when you hold in the bottom left button and switch the dbox on.

That means that the box has obtained an ip address and is stopped waiting to download a file to flash from your pc. What happened to the bootlogo.elf? Somethings changed.


Not sure what else it could be so keep on trying, and good luck..

I just though of one thing. Have you tried the null modem method using 'Dreamup'. I think it gives a cleaner download to the box. It takes longer but is more reliable than the net interface.

I have tryed Dreamup with a USB + Null modem.
It seems the flashing was ok. I have tryed two images the Gemini 4.3 and the ufficial 7025 image but I still have the same problem at reboot.

Not sure what else to try now.

As I am having the same problem but at present have not gone through the ritual of re-install (thats later after a purchase of a cable), I was wondering if this is a similar problem that old laptops suffer - a dead bios battery, is there such a thing on this unit, as it seems to me that when the machine starts up it does not know what it is ??

I will be testing this in about an hour, so will look at other problems when I re-install the software.

Anyone know where a service manual can be had for this machine ?? or an agent in the UK (London area)

no joy I am afraid, tried re-loading boot loader and original image, the program just stalled.
I have two options for this;
1. Bin it
2. Find someone to repair it and spend even more money

I contact the original seller of my 7025 and he returned with the following instruction that worked.

Before you do this.
You must make sure that you push the bottom arrow button rather than the top (which was common for the 7000) and connect directly to your modem router using the standard cable (not crossed) with a second cable to your computer.

Hold the bottom button down and switch on, keep holding this button until you get the ip address on the front panel.

Open Firefox (must be this or equivalent browser) and type in address and you should get to the pre-boot screen for the machine itself.

This screen will allow you to install a raw image to test it is actually working, I recommend the original image rather than anything that may be too large.

I am not promising that this will solve all problems, but for me it is a start. [FONT=&quot][/FONT]
