Flashing with null modem error.

Hi all,
I'm trying to flash my 500 with the latest (4.7) Gemini image, (using a null modem, and the step by step instructions in the Idiot Guide), keep getting the same error message.
After DreamUp tells me the box is alive, I plug it into he mains, then perform the flash, but about 10 seconds in, this message appears in a small box and everything stops:
Error X: Aborted by User, Exiting.
I don't touch anything, it just appears on it's own.
Any ideas anyone?
 
Rebooted my laptop (XP) qnd tried again with Gemini 4.7, but the same message. Tried to flash with original Dream firmware, and an older version of Gemini (4.2) several times, but again the same.
My DB isn't a clone as far as I know, and it isn't freezing up. I can try again and again but without success. The only thing I can think of is that i don't have an RS232 port on my laptop, I have an express card (Dell) dongle so that I can use the null modem cable. But that shows as working properly in Device Manager.
 
and what communication parameters are set up in the express card, what baud rate etc?
 
Oh, I have no idea. I have only plugged it in and installed the driver.
Would I find this out in propertys?
 
Ok, another update to confuse things more.
I have tried again, this time using my desktop, and I have the exact same message. I've flashed many times before on my desktop without problems, so I guess it is something to do with the latest DreamUp (1.3.3.5), or the latest Gemini (4.7).
 
Problem solved, I used a previous version of DreamUp on my desktop and managed to flash the new Gemini.
I then tried with my laptop and had success too.
I can only assume the problem was with the latest DreamUp, although on the site it says "DreamUP V1.3.3.5 für alle Modelle".
 
Well glad you persevered with it and got it sorted , I am sure I have seen a similar instance of the latest dreamup version not working somewhere recently
 
On the Dream web-site the 500 is barely mentioned any more, so maybe support is being withdrawn?
I certainly hope not.......
