I obviously mis-understood the warning message I received, being new to this particular forum's rules. The other forums I use are quite different.

I have looked at some of the other clips which are amusing.

The thing I can't fathom is this, the link that was replaced in my original post, looks exactly the same as the one I copied and pasted, except for the _ before the http.

Exactly, that is how you stop a link becoming active put a _ in front of it
as in

_http://www.google.co.uk
