Flying Scotsman came down our lovely Borders Line this morning so I went out to have a look at her. Whilst most folk get a drive past we managed to find the spot where the old girl got signal checked for 10-15 minutes and she stopped just 50 yards from where I was standing! :)

Signal checked waiting for the previous diesel service coming up the line to clear the single track section

That diesel! Dsc_0984.webp

A couple of hundred people were at this place watching the old girl go past Dsc_0993.webp

Heading down the line towards the people waiting in Galashiels & Tweedbank Dsc_0996.webp

An old diesel on the back - 47580 which provides the electrical power & heating on cold daysDsc_0001.webp

No turning or runround facilities at the end of the line so the diesel has to pull the train back up the line to Edinburgh. The steam engines look most undignified being towed backwards up the line!

Great pictures :)

Wondered about the diesel at the rear as it moved down the line, all clear now.

BTW used to see the FS steam through Huntingdon on the LNER route in my trainspotter days (50's)
