Hi guys -- I'm new to satellite tv and to Europe. My assigned satellite is Hotbird 4 -- can I receive signals from the other hotbirds up there?
Thanks

If the footprint of the other satellites is good enough with the size of dish you have , then yes everything at 13 East can be received with your system

Thanks Channel Hopper -- that gives me some hope. Unfortunately, I'm having trouble locking any anything other than my package -- every time I try to save something it says "frequency out of range".

Any thoughts?

Sure Loftyj and thanks. I posted this in another forum, but am happy to repeat here in hopes someone can help.

I am now receiving AFRTS service on a Scientific Atlanta D9834 (their new decoder). I am receiving the service on the Hotbird 4 satellite at 13E on frequency 10775. I have a universal LNB and a 120 cm dish. Where I am confused is in the FTA area. Evidently, this decoder will allow me to download up to 64 preset frequencies. Unfortunately, the user’s guide has only very vague basic instructions, and the S-A site has nothing. I got even less help from my emails to S-A, so now I'm turning to you. I would like to secure some of the Free-to-Air channels that seem to be plentiful on Hotbird, but I can not seem to tune them in. Every time I try to save a new preset, I get an error that the "frequency is out of range". My L/O is set at 9750 (which, as I read the user's guide, I should not need to change). Can anyone give me some guidance on what channels are worth getting and how I can go about receiving them with this equipment?

Thanks so much.

As Llew says in the other thread, you need to set your LO2 to 10.6 as well, otherwise any frequency over 11.750 will be reported as out of range.

Thanks Rolfw -- I will give that a try as soon as I get home.

Try putting in 10949V 27500 3/4 this is the nearest transponder I can find to the one you are using, there are some F.T.A stations there.
