Fortec FS4700 Firmware Downloader

I have the Fortec Star FS 4700 firmware upgrade (an abs file) this file doesn't include the downloader to the hardware.

Has anyone managed to download this or is there another downloader I can use?

you can upgrade using a usb memory stick .Its under tools in the menu

Hi there, did you manage to upgrade to the 3329e fw?

My 4700 from Maplin (UK) shows in the menu structure
Upgrade by USB /upgrade mode
Allcode , maincode, dump options. I do not have the boot loader included as it says on youtube. Any idea guys what to do?


with the RS232 straight cable I dont get comms or - possibly -I dont have the right version onf stbEROM Upgrade 2.0.0c 20095-22. the cable is OK, checked with DMM. cheers

I have a fortec star fs 4700 as well, yesterday I tried to update the firmware by usb peen drive and now it is displaying "ASH". Any suggestions?

are you using the standard 3329e firmware i found this not compatable with this model if your box is locked you can take top cover off and in the centre of circuit board their is asmall 3 pin jumper if you move to swap this over plug in box turn off replace in original position and should revert to normal firmware ps make shure box is unplugged when opening box high voltages inside

Hi,
I managed to get an answer from the Fortec Star support about the firmware update problem, please have a look:

“To avoid the problem again, please read the procedure first as it was
mentioned there that if your receiver has only "Allcode" you cannot load the
software via USB.

Please upgrade again your receiver via RS232 loader tool which is available
in our website. Follow the procedure that is given too and it will fix the
problem. Please use same latest software in upgrading.”

I bought a serial cable RS232 female to female from eBay (£1.50 del inc. del. in UK) received last Saturday and I will follow the procedure from the Fortec Star web site.
The problem is that not many pc/laptop today have a serial port. I managed to get one from the PC I use in my office, I hope it will work.

I followed the instructions and it worked like charm
Now i am searching if somehow i can unlock it or patch it?
Is it possible?
How can i enter key for scrambled channels manually?
Anyone ever tried it in this box if possible>?

HI Billy as my box is still not working and fortec star support never replay my email, I had a look your solution, I can see a small 3 pin jumper (JD01) on the green circuit. is it the right one? if yes could you explaining me again what I need to do to revert the firmware? thanks for your help

hi on my box i just moved the jumper to other pins plugged box in turned on turned of replaced jumper on the orig position then box rebooted.the jumper is on say pins 1 and 2 move to 2and 3 then back to 1and 2
yes it is the pins in the middle.
