I am trying to use a new Fortecstar fs-4400 for the first time. I keep getting "noCH2 on the front of the box even after using the set-up, installation and tools menus.

Do I have a faulty box?

I'm only going by the user manual for this box, but is it possible you haven't selected the satellite in the menu that you have your dish pointing to?

Thanks for the reply but I'm sure that is not the problem.

I have listed the same satellites that I am using for other satellite receivers which are working fine.

What dish do you have, is it motorised, multisat with DiSEqC switch? You say other receivers, is it a multipoint system?

It's just very basic: a fixed dish 60cm (I think - anything bigger would probably get blown off the house!) with an LNB for 4 satellite boxes. I installed it because the local analogue reception is very poor and there is at present no digital reception via an aerial although one has been promised over the next year or so. I have gone for free-to-air boxes as a means of getting a decent quality reception. I have 2 Silvercrest SL 65s and a Fortecstar FS-4400 and they are all satisfactory on Astra 19.2 and 28.2 and pick up some channels from other satellites occasionally. The latest Fortecstar FS-4400 was meant as a cheap way of providing a tv reception in a bedroom but, for some reason, I'm getting "noCH" on the box.

I have solved the problem!

Originally I chose satellites Astra 19.2 and 28.2 and did a multi satellite search with a full scan; this was unsuccessful although I thought that was what I did with a previous FS-4400 box. This time I chose Astra 19.2, single satellite search and blind scan and it was successful. I then repeated that for Astra 28.2 and again it was successful.

Thanks for your replies. For some reason it seems the multi satellite search did not find the satellites (as suggested by Llew) but searching each of them separately did.

Good to hear you're up and running. Perseverance pays in the end :)
