four receivers, Sky +, 1 dish, no box

I live in Bedfordshire and have a house in a conservation area; I also own the house next door which we let in two flats to long standing tenants. We have a mixture of analogue and cable into the properties from roof aerials and NTL which I want to get rid of.

Planning regulations dictate I have to have one dish no bigger than 600mm on the rear aspect of the house which fortunately I can do. No way will there be any floor mounted dish in either garden.

I want to run cabling for Freeview, Freesat and Sky HD to different and separate receivers in four places and am fed up trying to find engineers to do this. I’ve worked on roofs, have crawlers etc. fixed heavy gear all my life and run cabling so that aspect doesn’t bother me.

I want reception from only one satellite, Astra, but with cables for several receivers. Therefore the LNB will be pointing to one position and have enough feeds from it for the following;-

Sky HD and Freesat HD in my office on the ground floor of my house and Sky and Freeview in my front room above. For each of the tenants I want to run cables into their flat that will deliver HD Sky or Freeview/Freesat channels depending on however they choose to receive their signal.

Cables to run together in cleats down the back of the houses then through a communal passage to each of the four points (fortunately each TV position is directly on the other side of the walls and ceiling to the passage).

I’m assuming the following is workable; two cables from the 8-way LNB to each flat terminating in a surface box. I can’t really see the point of other cabling and boxes for analogue/UHF unless someone sees something I’ve forgotten.

Is this a workable simple reliable solution please?

I planned to get the gear from Satellite Superstore but haven’t heard back from them yet. I case I don’t, can you recommend a supplier of GOOD QUALITY equipment. I want to fix and forget.

Astra 2, not Astra 1 (19.2E) or Astra 3 (23.5E)!

Astra 2 (A,B,C,D) at 28.2E and Eurobird at 28.5E are the ones you want

Are the properties all on the same electricity supply phase? I imagine they will be. If not, you'll need to consider equipotential bonding issues.

Yes, two supplies into different properties. In the house that is split into flats the tenants are metered separately. We have semi-terraced houses each single phase elec.

This system will need to be equipotentially bonded back to the PE. As mentioned, consider common earthing arrangement where both earths are common to PE.

That I can do with protective earthrod into earth in the passage if I've understood you correctly. I hadn't thought about commoning two different houses so thank you for that. I know a sparky who'll advise on this.

I take it then that my idea for the rest of the install ios basically sound?

Any supplier suggestion?
