Hi,

Just replaced an old Skybox I was using to pick up free channels (no subscription anymore) with a Humax Foxsat-HD.

Set-up easy and settled down to watch it. Everything great for a few hours then 90% of the channels disappeared (i.e. message 'No or bad signal). Turn the whole lot off and start again. Runs fine, this time for 20 mins or so and the same happens again, with slightly different channels. Two days of this, including another period of happily surfing all channels (after removal and refitting of the antenna), and it's gone again - only Channel 4 remaining now.

Little in the way of degradation to picture or sound before disappearing, most of the time it just goes black and the message comes up. Checking the signal strength on the info button reveals nearly full strength goes to nothing at all in the blink of an eye, and then stays there, zero signal - none of the channels that go come back even if left on for hours.

The previous Skybox rarely had any problems, and the behaviour of the Humax seems a little extreme. I don't know whether to start with the dish (adjustment or replacement), LNB, or to take it back to the shop and ask for another.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

Back to watching i-Player for now...

Thanks, and a happy New Year!

Rich

Check all connections from LNB to Box.

What make and model of LNB is fitted? There are a few with known issues when used with the Hummy.

Thanks both, I'll check the LNB tomorrow. It ca only be accessed from the Neighbour's garden who isn't in during the week.

Did it's usual this morning. All worked great on every channel and after 15 minutes all gone in the blink of an eye, zero signal. Oh, except Channel 4 and BBC Alba. My Welsh is really coming on a treat...
