I managed to find some stock of this dish and bought one !

I got the Aluminium one !

How many of you have this dish and what are your thoughts?

They had Grey Steel ones and White Aluminium ones

I went for the Aluminium. I wanted Grey but white will do.

I understand they are quite rare now so I was suprised to find stock and did not hang about !

I was going to use this for 28.2. A bit OTT for that I know

I'm thinking how good would it be in a motorised set up?

I've got a Technisat Satman 850 85cm and a Penta 85cm. Not sure which to use on the motorised !

I'd use the Penta.
 
Found this YT. Can't understand a word but the visuals are easy to follow

Like the way he compared the dishes and signals on Sirius 4.8E

Looks like the Penta 85cm is as good as a Gibby 85cm. Impressive !

Now, if your dealer can deliver a 1m Fracarro to you.....
 
Looking at the spec I think there is not much in it gain wise. The Penta85 will be lighter as well.

Gain @ 10 GHz is 39.7 vs 39

Ok no chance of finding that one in stock.

Must be aluminium as I want to go as light as possible on the weight and give the motor an easy life.

I can get the 1m PT100C though if that's a good one? It must be good though or slightly ahead of the Penta 1m as it's a standard bowl shape surely?
 
Your supplier knows little about Fracarro.

Buy what your wallet can feed them.
 
They discontinued the largest Penta around 18 years ago due to low take up, but the odd one is still around.

It would have to be a large order to ramp up production for you.

Ok that makes sense.

I think the 85cm is fine enough. The gain figures look impressive.

I am tempted by the 1m PT100C though....:D
