It will not be nice when they start fracking next year, Take note folks we are many many miles from London, where such decisions are made, but remember when something is extracted from the earth, material often tries to fill the gap created, in the case of the fracking test two years ago minor earthquakes took place. The fact that a nuclear processing plant is sat on the edge of Morcambe Bay where gas has and continues to be extracted and is also on the edge of the shale deposits to be fracked seems to have been ignored. There is even an American company still trying to get a permit to store gas in salt caverns in the same area, no wonder house prices in this area have dropped to levels from the nineties, I live in an area which is an accident waiting to happen.

Certainly there is a risk to everybody from the technology, but the research behind that particular piece of journalism, which is then used as factual evidence is somewhat worse.

Still too many questions to be answered as far as I'm concerned for it to be given the go ahead. I can see the attraction of the gas supply, particularly as the government are committed to closing down coal fired power stations, (Didcot near me is closing down) to meet environmental targets, but at what potential costs to the locals.

Did you read that CH it says yes we should be worried, yes it can and did cause an earthquake, yes it does release methane etc so how is that scientific evidence in support? In any case most of that science comes from fracking over in the USA enough said

Makes me glad that the only ground collapses we have to worry about up here are old coal mines collapsing, which just happens on it's own rather than being forced to happen as it did back when they last tried fracking and causing quakes and subidence... O-Ha...
