Having mothballed my Sky TV (yuk!) kit over the last couple of years, I've dusted it off and bolted the dish back on the wall. On switch-on, Sky free TV duly appeared, so I know that all is well - or at least the dish position and LNB are OK. And since the main purpose of the exercise is to get a setup that will enable me to watch the Tour de France, come July, on French TV, it seems I need access to TNTSAT from Astra 1.

So ...... having done a bit of research, I've ordered a Strong STR 6420, plus decrypting card, from France, and now eagerly await it's arrival.

Now, am I naive to think that I simply need to rotate my dish by 9deg W to shift the focus from 28.2 to 19.2deg, and that et voila! I will get TNTSAT from Astra 1, or am I due a rude awakening?

Having already done the rotation, I have lost the Sky satellite, and the menu on the Sky box (Panasonic) tells me there is no signal. But I suspect that simply means there is no Sky signal.

The signal strength indicator indicates that something is being seen, with 'Quality' at about 60%, and with 'Lock' OK. But 'Network ID' and 'Transport stream' both state 0000. And there doesn't seem to be much point fiddling with the dish azimuth to maximise the signal without knowing if what I'm (not) getting originates from Astra 1.

When my Strongbox(!) appears, maybe all will be revealed. But I'm a bit impatient, you understand, and wonder if I can poke my Sky box into revealing something more useful.

All - well most - suggestions gratefully received.

The elevation of the dish will be slightly higher for Astra 19.2, but you will need to access the manual tuning menu on the digibox to set it for an Astra 19.2 transponder frequency. Best to set it for the transponder you want to watch. www.lyngsat.com. You could of course wait for the new receiver to arrive, but most of us are impatient and want to get the dish setup now. :)

S_y box is painfully slow to lock on a signal and hence no good IMHO for aiming a dish.
