Free period for three Setanta channels

Virgin Media will make three Setanta Sports channels available for free this weekend to enable its three million digital TV customers to sample some of Setanta's wares.

Currently customers who subscribe to the XL TV pack or pay £8 a month for the Setanta package are able to view six of Setanta's collection of sports channels. However, all day Saturday and Sunday, Medium and Large TV pack customers will have access to Setanta Sports 1, 2 and Setanta Golf for no extra charge.

Top billing for Manchester United/Sunderland fans to savour will be the sell-out Barclays Premier League clash at Old Trafford, which sees rookie Sunderland manager Roy Keane return to the ‘Theatre of Dreams' to go head to head with Sir Alex Ferguson for the first time in the dug out.

In addition to the football game customers will be able to enjoy a plethora of other sporting action including live coverage of Scottish champions Celtic who travel to St Mirren in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League. There is also top European action with live coverage of matches from Germany, France and Portugal.

On top of all the sporting coverage available on both Setanta Sports 1 and 2, armchair sports fans will also have access to all the live action from the Deutsche Bank Championship being shown on Setanta Golf.

"It's a fantastic weekend of sport, especially for United/Sunderland fans wanting to see Keane and Ferguson go head to head," said James Kydd, managing director of marketing for Virgin Media. "We're delighted to be able to give front row seats to help out armchair fans and those not lucky enough to get a ticket for the match."
