After buying a Full HD tv and a Humax HD receiver I'm a little disappointed with the amount of HD transmissions from both the BBC and ITV.Does anyone have any inside information on when these services will/may be extended and if C4 and Ch5 have any plans for HD on Freesat?

There's very little free Hd content on 28e at this moment in time.
Luxe Hd TV should be available :)

Take alook at all the Hd programming across receivable satellites:

Channel 4 are negotiating access to Freesat for their HD offering, but it is a complex issue and Spring next year is the very earliest that it will be in a position to go ahead.

Not sure about Five, but don't hold your breath as there is not enough narrow beam space even for Fiver and Five US.

The only real way for more Rights Restricted FTA stuff to go onto Astra 2D would be for BSkyB to shift the five Transponders they occupy with Scrambled stuff off onto 2C.

It would be highly surprising if Freesat, BSkyB, the Broadcasters, SES-Astra and Eutelsat are not locking horns right now.

I was under the impression that Lux HD Tv was scrambled? Is that not the case?

It isn't scrambled, but doesn't have a Freesat EPG slot, so you need to use Non-Freesat Mode.

Should I be able to view lux tv on my Panasonic 42" with freesat HD inbuilt?

There is a cam slot at the back of the tv, would I be able to insert a Dragon cam, and valid card to view other HD services on 28e?:confused

not much chance of that

this is bskyb we are on about here

the only way to get encripted sky hd channels is to pay sky and buy one of their loverly hd box's

the thing to remember is hd is still in its early days and bbc itv freesat is even younger.

lux tv is on the sky platform not freesat platform. their is alot of red tap for freesat to get through so give it time remembering its a subscription free alternative to sky

Channel 4 HD is available with a standard Sky subscription, checked it out yesterday on my mate's Sky HD box with a non-HD subscription, so should work with a Dragon CAM and subscription card, but not of course the Sky ones.

Being on a Platform amounts to little more than paying for a formal EPG slot.

As Luxe TV is FTA, not Encrypted, it is available "off platform"

Freesat Boxes have a non-Freesat mode which enables FTA Channels without a formal EPG slot to be viewed.

I have it available on my Humax Foxsat which, incidentally, also has multi-satellite support so can (and does) receive non-Freesat HD offerings from across the arc - not that there are many as yet!

i thought this thread was mainly about hd channels in general
i havent seen lux tv to comment on why we should all go out and buy freesat hd just for it

the point i was making is their is not a big enough market for hd yet to make it profitable for lots of channels to go hd especially free ones so as time goes by and more people convert to hd so will the amount of channels avaliable in both encrypted and fta packages
