Sorry if this has been asked and answered a dozen times before.
Have a fixed dish on 28.2 --will a fta receiver get me any more channels than a freesat box?
Anyone happy to recommend a simple (like myself) easy to use twin tuner receiver?
Failing that suggest what NOT to buy.
Thanks in advance. TC

The only thing you get extra with a Freesat/Sky box is the EPG.

Humax Freesat boxes seem to be very popular, though I have never used them myself.

You'll get the same channels on a FTA and Freesat receiver.

The Humax HDR is the best to go for.

Avoid the Grundig/Bush models. They're cheap, but can be nasty.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

The cheaper Freesat receivers are likely to lock you into Freesat only, the better ones give the option of Freesat (140channels) and FTA (over 350 channels).

A blindscan receiver may however get you a few more.

I would avoid the Metronic brand though as I have seen more returned through failure, and I wasn't impressed with the overall picture quality.

The Humax HDR really looks the business.
Many thanks for sharing your thoughts. TC
