Apparently the fourth option, "Other Sat." does not appear in the menu until at least one other satellite channel has been tuned in (see page 14 of the Plasma user manual to see this comment). I wasn't aware of this until someone in another forum raised the same query.

To search for a channel you can either do a blind scan of the complete satellite or enter a specific transponder frequency (page 37 of the manual).

As to DiSEqC; Panasonic have decided not to implement it, so I can't see any progress there.

I have the 32'' LCD with freesat. The tv is connected to a 1mtr dish and was installed correctly, however this may sound strange, but using a distance of six feet from the screen to view bbc hd and itv hd I cannot see any difference from normal tv, certainly not the stunning pictures everyone talks about. Have I not set it up correctly, if anyone has any ideas I would be grateful because I really would like to experience hd television, thank you.

Hi Aikon

You will probably only see an improvement on channel 108, none of the others are HD, or broadcasting.

You are not the first to claim this though, I have a customer with a Humax PVR that cannot see any advantage from the Freeview quality on the HD channel.

I don't have an HD source for my TV (yet!) but when I went round to my friend's house last week I really couldn't see a huge improvement between the HD channels and their SD equivalents. I could just about - I think - see an improvement between the two Luxe channels but nothing startling.

And yet, when I've been in France and looked t soome of the demos in Carrefour or Auchan I can see wonderful detail when they are playing a (presumably) Bluray disc.

Could it be because the disc was outputing 1080p and most TV HD is 720P?

You can see a noticable clearer picture with HD football compared with the identical source in SD.

Whether it is worth it is the question.

Thank you for your reply, thank goodness I am not the only one to notice how wonderful hd television could be, but isn't. I have emailed Panasonic on the problem and will be interesting to read their comments. We appear to be so out of touch with hd in this country, and wonder why, unless its all geared for Rupert Murdochs services.

Luxe Channel is slightly different. You can see that the logo in the top right is far better defined in HD (and comes across as almost a true black, the SD version being a rather dark grey).

It'll be interesting tomorrow, as I'll be installing a dish for the new Panasonic Twin tuner Freesat PVR, let's see how it compares.:)

As far as i know, the only h/d channel you can see on the panasonic freesat tv is itv 1, and that only transmits on the odd occasion, and you have to be on the itv 1 channel, and press the red button.

Plus BBC HD on Freesat 108.

Plus Luxe HD in non-freesat mode.

Plus a handful of Channels and Promos on other Satellites.

Unfortunately I think you have missred the original question. It is not that hd cannot be seen, but the fact is of not being able to see the difference in picture quality between sd and hd
