Almost, any digital satellite receiver can be used to get the Freesat channels. You will lack though, the Freesat EPG, you will just get NOW and NEXT.

Xtreme?, don't know.

As long as the dish was picking up Sky UK, and it hasn't moved then you are OK. Check if you get BBC1, ITV etc.

On a FTA box, you can normally re-order the channels however you wish.

Yes, you need to scan 28.2 Astra 2. Since you have bbc1 and a lot of itv, the dish is also on the correct sat. If it has moved slightly, you may need to tweak it back, if the signal is not sufficiently optimised.

Also, you may have an out of date transponder list for some channels. Check lyngsat to see which ones you should have.

RTFM :)

I will be dependent on your particular receiver, you should be able to find a suitable menu somewhere.

sadly i no longer have the manual. the machine is about 8 years old and hasnt been used since all the encryption was changed.
ive found the transponders but the numbers in the menu dont seem to match the numbers at lyngsat.

That will be why you have some channels missing.

Unless you can find a manual on the net somewhere, or figure it out from just poking around the menus, you'll be stuck with what you have unless you get a new receiver. Though, I would have thought that you'd be able to figure it out, some receivers are not always that obvious though.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

If your receiver has something called 'Network search' then switch it on, otherwise you will have to input each transponder frequency, polarity and symbol rate manually using the Lyngsat data.
