Freesat Reception Problems with LG 32LF770

Hi all,

Hopefully someone can help me!

Last week I got a LG 32LF770 Freesat LCD TV as my old LG died (good old John Lewis’s 5 Yr warranty!)

I bought a el cheapo Sky minidish kit from a local shop (Electronic Link Zone 1 dish and a WNC LNB).

I fiited it no problem and have had several attempts aligning the dish and am now sure I have it dead on (I have tried 2 satellite finder both el cheapo I must admit)

My TV reads 60% Signal 60 % Quality. When I let the TV is scan it lists all channels but I only get a signal on a few - BBC News, BBC Welsh channel, 2 Zone channels and it seems all the Shopping Channels. No BBC 1, BBC2, ITV, E4 etc

The dish is on the south facing eves of my house and 3 Foot from the garage roof, no obstructions for miles.

What am I doing wrong is the dish not upto it? Should I give up and get the pro's out or buy a bigger dish or LNB?

I would suspect you just need to fine tune the lnb back and forward in the holder and alter the angle of skew to maximum your signal assuming with that dish you of course can do that. You may need small adjustment of the dish as well. The channels you quote appear to be on Eurobird I at 28.5 East which suggest the dish may need a slight tweek West by 0.3 degree which may seem to be not much, but I am suggesting you may be on the Easterly side of that.
 
I assume you're in Washington Co.Durham, in which case you may need a Zone 2 dish.

I've just ordered exactly the same TV, I have a zone 1 minidish working fine with a FTA box at present and am hoping to just disconnect from that and hook up to the new TV. I will let you know how I get on when it arrives , it will be interesting to see if the LG tuner is better or worse than my existing Necobox.

would nt of thought so friend zone 1 should be fine . i would say borders of scotland zone 2 m8 .. i just think prob poor allignment its hard without the proper tools ..up and down the job , keep you fit lol :cool:
 
My geography ain't too good, there's me thinking Durham was almost in Scotland.
 
New TV working fine, I can thoroughly recommend this model, the FREESAT works perfectly, unbelievable picture quality. Bought it from Amazon £517 plus Allianz 5 Yr Warranty £125.
 
Pleased to hear you have the TV up and running Jimmy, good price too.

I haven't tried anything yet (been busy with work), I intend tring to moving the dish west as suggested.

I also intend removing the SKY fitted dish to a house my parent rent out and tring that. (House is empty atm ;) )

I was also thinking about taking the TV to the rented house and try it there, I assume the Sky dish will face the right satellite for freesat?

If you mean can you simply unscrew the dish off one house and simply screw it on to the wall of another house - tha answer is highly unlikely.

In order for it work that way both walls would have to have exactly the same verticality to the ground and, more importantly, face exactly the same direction south. Oh, and you would have to make sure that the holes you drill in the wall are as square (or not!) as the other wall.

While it's possible the walls may both be vertical you will probably have to use the left to right position as a starting point.
