Freesat signal goes after rain (not just heavy!)

I realise that the weather has been bad recently and that signals can be lost during heavy rain, but for the last couple of weeks, when there has been any wet weather at all, I am losing signal (or getting broken signal) while it is raining and afterwards. Is this a problem with my LNB? There does not appear to be any gap in the wiring but could a small amount of moisture be causing the problem? When it is fine, I can watch as usual and have had the freesat dish working normally in all weathers for the best part of 2 years. Any help gratefully received.

Sounds like water ingress, check the F Connector, and seal, at the LNB, also check the cable for any sign of a split, where water can enter.
 
Yes, as well as the above, consider also that the dish alignment might be on the cusp, as it were.

Did you install the dish yourself, or was it done by an accredited Installer, or is it an old BSkyB one?
 
We had the freesat install done professionally but the dish may have been there previously. Not sure whether the LNB is old or was new at the install. Is replacing it fairly straightforward and would that solve the problem?
 
Just checked. Dish is an old BSKYB one and the LNB was new 2 years ago.
 
This maybe dish alignment issues; most probably the first thing to check.
 
Well as Mickha advised, check the connection at the dish end for security integrity and signs of water ingress first.

If you think it is ok, you could try gently shoving the dish a mm or two one way (or the other) to see if it becomes more stable.

As it's a BSkyB relic, it may be prone to displacement owing to less than four mounting bolts having been used (Sky "Engineers" can only count to three).

We had checked the alignment which hadn't been moved and we do have a good, unbroken signal when it is dry (there are only 3 bolts, however!). Will try moving it slightly but I suspect it is worth waiting until it is raining a little and we have nothing (intermittently breaking up at the moment). The cabling appears to be intact. Many thanks for all replies so far.
 
..you can simulate the rain effect to some degree with a damp tea towel draped over the lnb ...
align for max signal with the tea towel in place ...then remove once done..

I was just trying to help so he wouldn't actually have to do the job in the rain..
No fun up ladders on a wet day...as we all know from experience..

Well it's predicted the jet stream will move North very soon. Expect plenty of sun on the horizon (no pun intended) ;)

..Be nice if its true ...but remember it took amost 3 months to get south of the uk...
It ain't gonna go north of Scotland in a hurry ...
If it takes another 2 months to get back where it should be ...that puts us in Autumn..
Anyone for an Indian Summer BBQ thread ???

It could also be a good move to upgrade the dish to a Zone2 dish, I did the same recently as our old Zone1 minidish was damaged from a snow avalanche off the roof long before we moved here (presumably the winter of 2010/2011), as the guttering was still hanging off above it from when it too was damaged, and now I only lose signal in the heaviest of heavy rain, like the recent storm at the end of June where the rain came down so hard it looked like a hurricane had hit... :)
