Freesat via sky dish advice please

Hi guys

I have a sky dish on the side of my house with sat cable running into my living room into my box where I can watch sky. I am planning on buying a Freesat box for the bedroom and my plan is to replace the single LNB on the sat with a dual/quad LNB and run a cable up to the bedroom as well.

Would this enable to downstairs box and bedroom box to work properly?

Any reccomendations for LNBs?

Yes it will work. You will probably install a quad lnb - the dual lnb's disappeared ages ago for Sky dishes.
 
Your plan is sound.

Makes no odds which Quad (You won't be able to get a Twin) you get: Go for the cheapest :)
 
Just make sure you get the right type for your dish as sky dishes have recently changed design and the new lnbs won't fit the older dishes and vice versa.

The older lnbs slide into the boom arm whereas the new ones fit over the new (hollow) boom arm

Don't they come with an array of adapters? I know they didn't at first, but vaguely recall it being mentioned that they soon would.

Yes new quads and octo's come with a Mk3 adapter supplied :)

Does it matter what brand the LNB is or are they all they same practically? I have seen thompson, MTI, Zinwell etc so is there a generally accepted better brand.
 
Makes no odds really although I have had a few faulty mti issued before
 
Last lot of quads received were Zinwell, no problems with them.
