Freeview is set to overtake Sky Digital as the most popular form of digital television in the UK by the end of the year.
Driven by the uptake of Freeview, digital terrestrial television recorded an 8.3% year-on-year increase in market share and now serves 27.3% of all UK households.
Digital satellite television, almost completely dominated by Sky Digital, holds 31.5% of market share, recording a 2% year-on-year increase.
Almost two-thirds of UK households have some form of digital television, the other third of the population is without access to the technology, according to the report, Trends in TV.
