Fringe reception: ITV3 and Movies4men particularly difficult?

Hi,

I re-mounted my CM180 with the Inverto BUQ over the weekend and fine tuned it on Astra 2D.

I get good signal on all channels, except for ITV3 (& +1) and movies4men (& +1).
Result ranges from no signal to lot's of noise and blockiness.
Everything else on the FoxSat looks really good.

I can buy the problems on ITV3 (may be on weak vertical), bit movies4men on Eurobird (even though they're on a vertical too)?

Of course I can try fiddling even more with skew and position of LNB,
but is there any obvious explanation why it's these channels?

Not sure about ITV 3 but Movies4Men+1 is on the worst (Weakest) transponder there is, if it wasnt a motorised system I'd say check your skew, but seeing it is I would suggest you try a couple of DisEqC nudges to see if you tracking is off slightly.
 
Just a quick follow up on this, I get 76% signal quality on ITV 3 on my 15 degree offset LNB on 28E on my multi LNB setup so thats a bit of a weird one.

Actually, the CM is static (my tag was misleading). I spent over an hour yesterday just adjusting it so it's spot on 2D. But it may still need tweaking.

Just went through the channels again, and sure enough, it's all the verticals (as I remember is the classical problem for Scandinaiva).
ITV3/3+1 are on 10906V. They are the only ones there in the pick on Freesat that I can see. So that 2D transponder may be a bit weak.

Rest of problems are with Eurobird 1 transponders. All of them verticals.
- Movies4men[2], which are full signal but very low quality. (11224V & 11260V)
- Men & Movies / QVC Beauty / JML Direct, which are all "bad or no signal". (12560V)
- Pitch World, Pitch TV, Ocean world: Full signal, 15% quality, very chirpy and blocky. (12643V)

Funny to experience having almost top-quality 2D, and problems with Eurobird1. Isn't it usually the other way 'round?

SO, you're probably right, it's the skew. Looks like I need to tweak the LNB again.
But then I ask myself: What am I really missing out on? Pitch TV? JML Direct?? Not really why I put a CM180 in my back yard. :)

As a offset LNB here 28E has very little skew if you compare the f connector on the LNB in a neutral position as a minute hand on a clock pointing at half past, for 28E the f connector points at 29 minutes to the hour, as I said hardly anything. I dont know about your location but I thought I'd pitch in.
 
Some EB1 transponders are much lower signal than 2D. In particular ones between 12500 and 12750. The lower FEC (2/3) is what makes them possible to receive from outside the footprint but still not easy. Also, EB1 is skewed 7.5º more than 2D, so if you have got your skew perfect for 2D it's going to be a mile off for EB1.

You are right, it's about 3 degrees here according to dishpointer, and that conforms well with my experimental results. It's almost vertical, just slanted slightly to the left (when looking at the dish from front).
