I see that Germany now has 3 FTA Sports channels Eurosport,Sport-1 & now Sky Sports News in HD & SD,:D

We used to get Eurosport fta on 19.2 east & 13 east in Analogue then when they switched to digital they dropped the English audio @ 19.2 east & 13 east went altogether we did have Motors tv for a while now Sky has encrypted them all,:(

Even the HD versions of ITV-2,3 & 4 are encrypted,

Germany gets a much better deal with their Free to Air Satellite TV than we do in the UK will this ever change ?

Glasgow,ish!
The Germans have a real distaste for paying for t.v., that's why Premiere had such low sub's, I don't blame them & I agree its disgusting ITV's main stable of channels are part of the basic sub's pack, but ITV's been in the back pocket of $ly for about the last 8 years now.

The ITV 2/3/4 HD channels were started specifically to take advantage of Sky monthly payouts to boost revenues in a declining advert market.

You also need to ask the qustion - "what does the channel get out of going HD?" And to be blunt the answer to that is "not a lot apart from vastly increased transmission costs"

Whilst Sky are happy doling out monthly payments to HD channels the chances of them going clear is low.
