A friend picked up a $ky card (literally) off the ground at a car boot sale. No one claimed it so he took it home and tried it. It was an unactivated card. I said for him to try a new instal with this card in and he may get a FTV card. He did this and he has activated a full subscription card matched to his box.
1. Will $ky charge know that he has done this (his original card still works)?
2. Will $ky be able to charge him for this card that he did not order?
Anybody know?

Don't think they can.

Is his box connected to the phone line?

If the card is reported stolen or the subscription is not paid they will deactivate it.

The FTV channels should still work.

It had to be connected to activate the card but it has not been connected since

If the box was connected and the CLID is displaying, then Sky will know who has activated the card, probably won't trigger on their system though until they fail to get a contract back for the card, or if it is a mirror subscription (which is more likely), they will eventually notice that there are too many cards for that address. :)
