I have tried lot of images including Gemini 2.4. But I feel Hydra Final Image is best. It has autosatxml plugin. we can easily update Satellites and TPs. It is not available in Gemini image. I have tried to install that plugin but its not working with Gemini. Updating EMUs and Plugins are easier. But this is my opinion & experience only.

Autosatxml 1.5 (Dreambox connected to internet needed)
For scanning channels, the dreambox use a file with the list of all transponders for a given satellite, with frequency, polarisation, SR and FEC. It can be new satellites, but most of the time it's SR or FEC changes that occurs. Anyway, to get all channels, you need to have an up-to-date satellites.xml file. The best source is www.lyngsat.com but if you want to edit manually, you will have to take a day or two just for this mission. Lines are like this one :
< transponder frequency =" 11019000 " symbol_rate =" 2144000 " polarization =" 1 " fec_inner =" 4 " />
and for a motorized system, there are a few lines..
This plugin, connects to www.lyngsat.com, grab transponder information from the site and for the satellites you decided, and then build a new satellites.xml file, up-to-date.

So unrar the tar.gz archive and FTP files in the correct directories from /var, then CHMOD 755 autosatxml in /var/bin.
Then, yellow button (blue for official images) and choose autosatxml. You then have to choose wich part of the world you need, press the green button, then select which satellites you want transponders détails, then let this wonderful piece of software parse the web and create a new satellites.xml file.

Had the same problem as you recently, then i found out i had to upgrade the cvs image in flash (all other images on usb), so i used cvs_109 dated 18.11.05 and it worked fine and so managed to install gemini 2.4. As long as you change main flash using any file after 24.10.05 you should be o.k.

Its been working fine for the past week
