Have there been any updates to the way Gemini handles EPGs? I'm runing 4.50 and it only shows the two following shows. Before I remember (in 4.40) it used to show a few days in advance. Is there a way to fix this with a plugin?

I am not sure that it could ever do that. For some stations such as German TV you can use the red button and then you could see a few days in advance, but >I cannot ever remember that working for channels other than those German ones.

Standard gemini EPG will only show EPG data it receives from the satellite. Usually now and next, but as T_G says, some channels send more data.

There are a few plugins available for richer EPG, Have a look at EPG Evolution and WeekEPG. There is also MV (Multi View) which requires a bit more configuration.

All of the above need an internet connection to work.

These plug ins only work on the Ѕky package on 28°e.

For any other package you get what the broadcaster transmits.
Not Quite, the number of available packages are limited, but not limited to sky uk,

EPG-Evolution
Working providers:
Viasat (Satellite)
Canal Digital (C@ble & Satellite)
Sky UK (C@ble & Satellite)
Sky IT (Satellite)
Boxer (Terrestrial)
Comhem (C@ble)
Tele2 (C@ble)
MV (MultiVision)
Works with anything you can get XML data or pre-built .dat files for including. 28.2E Sky Italia, the Nordic + Dutch packages and more that I cant remember.

If you use XMLTV to grab your xml files for MV, some of the available listings are for UK, Spanish, French, Finnish, Hungarian, Swedish, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, South African, Estonian .... and more if you can find data sources.

I've never really used WeekEPG much, but I know it works with Sky UK and Sky Italia.

The only problem with all of the above is that they don't integrate directly with the Enigma1 EPG system, but are standalone EPG systems which limits their usefulness somewhat.

The Nabilosat team have managed to get a Sky Italia EPG integrated into Enigma1 EPG and I believe that the same for Sky UK is on the way.

That's very interesting. How do you get Ѕky Italia EPG. All it says here is "No programdata found"

It's working ok on most, but not all, Ѕky UK channels.

I assume you are talking about EPG-Evolution.

Data for some channels are missing from the EPG from time to time, there is nothing you can do about it because how the plugin gets its data is not really customizable, it just loads the data from a database on the maintainers site.

I've found that reinstalling the plugin sometimes helped when I was missing program data. Otherwise, you can report channels with missing data to the developer. There is a thread on his forum where you can download a small program that helps him debug problems. You just post the output to this thread.

You can report missing EPG data here....

When I get home I'll check out sky italia, I've not looked at the EPG there in a while.

Sky Italia's EPG seems to be down on EPG-Evolution at the minute :(

Yes, I was talking about EPG-Evolution and thanks for the explanation.

The missing channels on Ѕky UK are no too much of an issue but it would useful if it worked with Ѕky Italia. Also it would be nice if it worked on the few Setanta channels.

I don't think there is any other package that transmits more than now & next EPG that the Dreambox can not already handle, so only Ѕky UK & Italia are relevant for these EPG plug ins.

Hi All,

I have downloaded the EPG EVOLUTION for E2.
Can anybody tell me where to put it on DM800 and how to get it to work.

Thanks in advance,
Tom.

I'm not sure about that version, but the E1 version had a readme inside the tarball/zip which told you exactly what to do and where to put the files.

/var/tuxbox/plugins in my case.

The version I downloaded has the extension .ipk and isn't a zipped file.
epg-evolution_0.6_mipsel.ipk

FTP the file to your dreambox, to /tmp say.

Then telnet into the box and run the following command...
Code:
ipkg install epg-evolution_0.6_mipsel.ipk

That should do it ;)

Thanks compufunk

I can FTP file to dreambox but don't know how to ' telnet '
Can you explain please.

I use a small program called Putty.

There is also a telnet command line inteface in 'Dreambox Control Centre'.

Once you've connected to with DCC, just click the telnet tab on the left. Then you can enter commands.

C:)
