Geminid meteor shower this evening in Europe

As the title suggests its happening at this very moment. I've seen some spectacular ones in the last 30 mins.

Best time to look is after midnight within Europe apparently. The Sky here in the Midlands is patchy with cloud but even i've managed to see some good ones :D

Wrap up warm though as its really cold this evening.

My part of the sky was very cloudy so no show here.

Just gone fairly clear skies over Manchester ..
So ..will brave the cold around midnight if it stays that way ..
Anyone know the best direction and rough elevation to concentrate my gaze upon ?

The radiant is in the east but they could be seen speeding away from here in any direction.

Absolutely perfect night tonight ...not a cloud over us currently ...
I can even see all the stars in Orions belt with the naked eye ..If I concentrate..
Sadly we do have a lot of light pollution ...but might not be a factor tonight ..

It might be a major factor in that the height of the meteor shower was last night :-lmao

You aint going to see much :D

I only found out about it as i saw one and decided to have a look on the net to see if anything was happening.

Too cloudy last night Nano ...
..but...I was under the impression it lasted a couple of nights...

Blaady typical ...theres rarely a hole in cloud over Manchester...certainly never one when you need it ..
Oh well ..
Might still pop out for an hour later...but my hopes are somewhat dashed..

Unconnected, but I did see a blazing meteor last Friday, very low in the sky, just to the North west of Wimbledon, travelling South west.

It did look as though a lot of it would hit the ground somewhere along the southbound route of the A3. Best guess from the trajectory (I was up a ladder at the time), would have been between Chessington and Hinchley Wood at 8pm, but so far I haven't seen any local report of anything coming down, or damage.
 
What colour where these meant to be?

I seen something (or I thought I seen something) the night before last late on around 11/11.30pm, I was in my mates van having a sneaky smoke as I cant smoke indoors because SWMBO wont allow it, and I spotted something in the sky

It was a very light greeny/bluey colour and had a "tail" to the rear of it, when I spotted it, the van was facing roughly due south and the thing I saw was at roughly 40 to 45 degrees west, not that high in the sky

It started at 11 oclock on the invisible clock and moved fast round to 3 oclock before disappearing (it didn`t move round the clock face as such but that`s the best way of describing it).

I thought it was kids messing about with a green laser until I read this but it was too clear and too light to be a green laser to be honest.
