I've been out of the satellite loop for a few years, but now wish to swap-out the cable tuner in my DM800 (not se) for a DVB-S2.

I ordered this genuine Broadcom one from an official dealer as the description says it is compatible with the DM800, but the exact wording on the small box that actually contains the tuner is:

DVB-S2 BC
HD Tuner
Zu DM 800HD se,
DM 8000

Is this compatible with my DM800 or should I send it back? The DMM website seems to be less than helpful with information on their DVB-S2 tuners.

EDIT: it looks like this tuner also needs a special back plate as the one that came with my DM800 has two holes for connectors.

I think you have been sold a tuner for the new 800se, so you will need to send that back and get the corect version for the dm 800. Make sure you tell them it's for the older 800 hd. Also your correct about the backplate, the cable tuners are different, so you will also have to buy a sat version backplate which should only cost you about five pounds. Actually i'm sure on the genuine dm800 you got both types of backplate's in the box when you bought it new! So do you not have the sat version somewhere??

Which is the correct version? Do you have a model number or a link to a picture?

That's right, I also have the back plate with two holes for f-connectors.

The DVB-S2 tuner was released long after the DM800, could this be the reason why there is no back plate with a single hole?

The correct tuner is an Alps tuner, here is one, -http://www.hm-sat-shop.de/en/receiver-digital-dreambox/dreambox-dvb-s2-tuner-fuer-dm800.html

The tuner was not released long after the dm800, that is why the backplate has two hole's one of the output's is a loopthrough, that's why you have the other backplate, so you could change the dm from a cable box to a satellite box.

I now have the correct tuner. You would have thought an official DMM dealer would know which one would be suitable for my box! Cheers.
