My Satellite Setup
60cm dish with one fixed LNB set to 19.2E.

Terrestial TV aerial....

Technomate TM-6902 -T2 Super HD Satellite & Terrestial Combo Receiver + USB PVR....

Panasonic TX-32LZD85 TV...

Could someone please tell me which Sat is used by the FTV German channels and will a receiver bought in UK suffice ? Or should I get a preloaded receiver over from Germany?

Additionally, I wish to view UK FreeSat as well. Can it be done using same dish, LNB etc?

Welcome,

FTV German channels would be Astra1 @19e and 28e for Uk freesat.

Both satellites can be received using a 60cm with offset LNb bracket.
 
The FTA German channels are on Astra 19.2 E, Freesat channels are on Astra 28.2 East, a 70cm dish with offset LNB and DiSEqC switch should provide reception of both satellites, a standard Free To Air receiver will be fine.

PS. FTV (Free To View), requires the use of a viewing card with suitable receiver, but I'm sure this isn't what you mean.

FTA is what I meant! I don. want cards or subscrition!

DiSEqC switch!! Is that part in the receiver box?

The analogue services on 19e will be shutting down in the next few years, there's 1000+ DVB channels from this bird.

A DiSEqC switch is an external switch used for the switching of two LNb's and can be controlled by DiSEqC 1.0 commands from the receiver.

I need to know which Sat is already now transmitting with German digital channels to German viewers. Setting it up on the 19e analogue one now would not be best idea!

German Digital is also on 19.2E.

When Analogue ceases, Digital will continue.

Forget Analogue: It isn't relevant to your needs, now or in the future.

Thanks for that, it is what I was looking for!

I still have an old analogue dish/LNB at 19.2E and Receiver which receives the German analogue channels.

Apart from buying a new receiver box and leaving my original comments out regarding FreeSat. ...Should I buy a new dish/LNB? If yes! Whch size/type?

You don't need a new dish for 19E, you have a suitable dish already. You may just need to change the LNB. Either way, 60cm is fine. The make is not important.
 
Thanks for the replies so far....Moving on a bit from my original question!

1. If I fit a Monobloc LNB (one cable) for 13E to 19.2E. Is the switching done internally in the receiver?

2. Is there a Monobloc LNB on the market that covers 13E to 28.2E?

3. If Q2 is not possible. Would I need to fit a bracket with 2 LNBs and 2 cables?

Which sats do you want exactly, it is necessary to get that straight from the start?


For 13E, 19.2E and 28E you need at least an 70cm, an 80cm would be better.


You don't want to use a monoblock if you want 13E,19E and 28E.

The switching is done inside a monoblock

You can't get monoblocks fors 19E and 28E.
 
Starting with a new 80cm dish and LNBs. Which is the simplest way to receive
13E, 19.2E and 28E?

I currently have one cable. I could possibly fit a 2nd cable?

Align Dish to around 19.2E. This should make life relatively easy as your Dish will be aligned to the central LNB's intended target and the strength of Hotbird and Astra 2 should be quite sufficient to accommodate the offset of 6 and 9 degrees respectively.

Fit 3 LNBs on a bracket and make use of a 3 way (4 way, with one unused) DiSEqC Switch.

The Switch can go outside, so although it has 3 short cables going into it, only one cable is needed for the longer run to the Receiver.

You just allocate Switch Ports in your Receiver DiSEqC Menus.

Simples!
 
In addition, it always a good idea to put 28E on Diseqc1.0 port 1 in my opinion, that way if you ever connect a numpty Sky or Freesat receiver to it, it will still work.

It is some time since I started the thread and took on the info supplied by Forum members regarding the 3 Sat transmissions mentioned in thread No 12. I apologise to members for not at least saying 'thank you' for info supplied( a bit rude of me!) or mentioning I was putting my project on hold! (It still is!).

My newest question is! If I want to purchase a Receiver with DiSEqC Menus. Is it possible to purchase a Receiver with an inbuilt hard drive so I can record stuff?

If there are some Receivers out there! Can somebody recommend a couple of makes/models at me to investigate?

Lots of receivers with built in Hard drives and quite a lot now which can be connected by USB to an external drive for recording purposes, have a look at our forum supporting advertisers.:)
 
Would this model meet my requirement of DISeqc switching between 2 satellites (19.2E & 28.2E) at the receiver and have recording ability?

Can I watch one Sat and record from another Sat? Or is this restricted to watching one programme and recording another from same Sat?

I'm not sure how well the Freesat branded receivers handle recording from other satellites, although they are excellent for the channels on Astra 28.2, as you record from the Electronic Programme Guide. I'm sure one of our members who own one can help on that.
 
I haven't connected my HDR to othe satellites yet but my understanding is that recording in non-Freesat mode is limited by the lack of a decent EPG. AFAIK you can only record the current programme but you might be able to set the "next" of the "now and next" information.

Or timed recordings presumably?
