Getting sky channels on my DM500

I have moved your post from the 2 year old thread, new topic new thread please.
Firstly, I suspect we have a couple of terminology problems here you would not get Freeview on your DM unless you had a terrestrial tuner fitted, which would mean you had a DM500-T, but I suspect you mean Freesat and you have a DM500-S. If you are getting freesat then that means you are pointing at the correct satellite, although you do not mention in your profile any dish or lnb . Thus do I assume you have a subscription to SKY, or is the DM500S set up for card sharing?

Thanks topper for your reply, well i bought the dm500s coz my m8 had one and he is getting all channels on the dm box. So ive messed bout on the box coz werent getting anything but i did a transponder scan and it has come up with the free channels. I dont have a subscription to sky. Weve tried to go into my m8ts box but for the setting there is a pin and tried 1000 to open but someone has changed it. ive been reading on the forum about images and flashing the box but will this get me sky on the box or would i have to do something like the cardshare u mentioned and any help on how to go about it

In answer to your question yes it is the only way but of course a card share is illegal but there is plently of information on the forum about card sharing but you will have to read it if you want to use it. Please note we do not discuss pay servers on this forum. Regardless of all the restrictions placed upon the user by sky I personally can see no reason why a household subscription should not include the household, unfortunately sky see it differently and therefore they have multiroom subscriptions. This will of course generate extra income for them and the mean way they try to stop people using any stb they want in their own home is what has created the current situation. The ability to cardshare may well change in the near future so be warned.
