Gib OP1.50 with polar mount ?

Hi,
i´m about to install my first motorized GIB 1.50 with a polart mount ,(we cant find SMR1224 any longer )..could any body advise of the ARC range (61ºwest to 85ºeast) and what is the best actuator to use 18" or 24"....many thanx any comment guys

To get the best out of a Gibertini, you will also need to extend the rear mounting bracket to the motor by about 20cms or more , otherwise you will come a cropper.

(They could at least have tidied up the cable before making a video Hexah)

It is rather odd, the arc of 61w - 85e suggests it is perhaps in Italy or somewhere similar. I am sure they have PVC tape there. If it was the UK it would be the self-amalgamating tape I would worry about more...

i though so ,,do you recon 24" motor should be enough?? to cover the range ,also a bit worry about the dish if wobles a bit, the last actuator i have put was about 20years ago with them big dishes receiving just few analog channels

actualy where i´m about to install the dish (IBIZA) is a complete open area from both horizons so i was thinking to give a open shot for the dish ;)

If you are clever with the geometry, an 18" actuator will (just) do the job.

Don't forget the weight of an actuator moving round the back of the dish will mean the arc requires careful setting up a second time once everything has been bolted down. Gibertini bracketry isn't the best for rock type stability.

The bracketry that holds the shaft of the motor on the pole, and the one holding the front of the motor on the dish backplate should be extended by about 12 - 16 cms.

This allows the motor to travel less for more counts of the reed-switch, and takes some strain off the brackets and polar-mount when the dish is pointing at a satellite low on the horizon.

Too much extension though and you run the full length of the motor before the complete arc
