Well, It's been a while since I had a motorised setup but I got all the new bits together over the last week or two.
Then all I had to wait for was a bit of nice weather.

The weather smiled on me today so I got to it.
Anyway, here's the results.

Looks good! What model is that actuator? And what coverage of the arc are you getting with it?
 
It's a Jaeger Superjack 12. I'm getting 36ºe to 37.5ºw. i could get more range on it but to start off with, I set the hardware limits quite conservatively. I'm not sure what I'd want further east or west to be fair....unless you lads can think of anything good that I could be missing. :)
 
Yes, nice setup. Is it driven by your Echostar?

Yeah the AD3000-IP is driving it. I've also got a Superjack EZ-6000 positioner that I could use. I generally run my Manhattan Plaza as I use the blind scan functionality of it to find feeds. Just watched Everton vs Huddersfield Town on 10ºe a little while ago. Poor Huddersfield!

DARL or HARL...not sure. I'd have to go outside and look at the label to find that out. I believe it's a magnetic reed switch.

Oh yes, it came in the blue and white Superjack box. I've still got it somewhere with some fittings that I didn't need to use. :)
It's very quick and much quieter than my previous motor (Jaeger 99G H-H). That thing could wake the dead! I suppose it didn't help that it was driving a Triax TD88. The Triax rung like a bell when the motor was operating.

Not surprizing really, that arm looks pretty short. That's why I was asking. DARL is smaller, but faster and higher resolution. How would you rate it for speed against a diseqc motor?
 
Never had a diseqc motor so I can't really give a comparison. However; the motor can travel from 36ºe to 37.5ºw in about 15 seconds. Is that quick?
 
Not sure about diseqc because I haven't got one plugged in at the minute but the 1224 takes 26 seconds to do that span and my guess is it is quicker than a diseqc. Seems like forever when you are waiting for the picture to appear though.
 
Just for reference my SG2100A DiseqC motor goes from 26E to 7W in 30 sec and 20 sec going the other way. But it does have a Gibertini OP125 1.2m dish on it at the moment! (poor thing, I feel sorry for it)

Thought it was vertical one way and horizontal the other.
 
No it's voltage dependent [13v / 18v].

BTW I just looked at the spec of that actuator and it goes 6mm per second so you are only using using 9cm out of the 30cm stroke. How many clicks on the v-box or receiver is it between 36ºE and 37.5ºW? I'm just trying to get an idea of resolution as I am thinking of changing my diseqc motor to something similar to yours.
 
Going from 26E to 7W it would have been vertical and from 7W to 26E horizontal. I have had the motor a few years and have never had any trouble with it,usually has a 1m Orbital steel dish on it, but for the last few weeks I have had a 1.2m gibertini on it and it still seems to work ok. As for resolution I can check for you but I am recording something at the moment, I will post back a bit later.

I was asking femto. The reason I ask about V or H was because a diseqc motor goes quite a bit quick in H due to the higher voltage.
