My Satellite Setup
Master Focus 90cm .Gigablue UHD Quad 4K on TM 2600 motor. *Tm 5402 HD M3, *Atemio Nemesis. *Not Used.
My Location
Southern England
I was looking to buy an extra DVB tuner for my DM 8000 at some time. I notice most sellers only sell a tuner if you have bought a receiver. Fair enough as I can buy one elsewhere but is this good for business as it loses alot of possible sales. Or is it a case of hoping someone will want a receiver and will buy it there because they think its the only place to get a DVB tuner.

Crazy business sense and to my knowledge the DM8000 uses the same tuner as the DM800 and these can be picked up anywhere.

i think its fair enough if they sell the "tuners" as after sales service only
 
Yes thats fair enough but I notice one store who also an auction site that has had listings for ages and sold just a couple, maybe its because you have to a receiver also. If I could have bought from him I would have but I had to do a search and buy elsewhere. Better to move the stock on and make a few quid than have it sitting on the shelf with money tied up.

Have to admit that I dont understand this approach either. Even if it is as an after sales service, surely a better model would be to offer a discount to customers who had bought a box and a higher price to all others. At least that way they could make some extra profit from a low volume line.

Out of interest, where is the cheapest place to get an original replacement tuner as I am in need of one?
 
Not many places I could find in the UK that sell them without a box. But it appears as if these do.

Thanks - is the same price (£79) as the official DM shop site (didnt check if there is a postage difference). I've seen prices between £39 and £54 when ordered with a receiver, so I guess they are making a healthy profit. If anyone finds cheaper, please to post it!
 
I am not sure if some have their pricing wrong. Most seem to be around £75 for the S2 and I do not see how they are prepared to list the S2 at the same price as the DVB-C and DVB-T of £35.

Not sure if i am supposed to name them or not but the places I was referring to are Satstore (£39) and Satellite Superstore (£54).
