Hi, I am a Canadian who is buying a place in Southern France where we will spend the winter months. In Canada, I have a 1m dish, a Stab motor, and a Pansat 9200 (HD, DVB-S, DVB-S2) receiver. However, I am a complete novice to the European context (other than checking out the Lyngsat charts). So, my question is what would be a good receiver which handles the various formats available in Europe (I am assuming MPEG4, S, S2, 4:2:0, 4:2:2). Also, how are recommended retailers? I am only interested in FTA, and programming in English, French and Spanish. We will be renting the place out in the summer, so German channels would also be good. How big a dish is required to get BBC?

Thanks for any advice you can provide.

In South France - depends on exact location - but can be anywhere from 1.2m to a 2.4m dish. Local ex-pats will be along shortly to advise you...

French and German FTA channels can be easily received with a 60cm dish on a motor. Not sure on the retailers but your receiver should be more than capable of what you want it to do.
