Hi
I'm looking to buy a motor for my 80cm dish. I've never had one before so been doing a bit of reading about them. It will be used with a dreambox 500s clone. Is there anything to look out for? I have seen the following for around 50euros
MOTOR DISEQC SAT-3 ILLUSION
Motor Mvision MVX-120
MOTOR Gi HH 250
I want it so i can view sats from 39e to 7w. As i said it will be used with a dreambox 500s clone. I've read that sometimes the clone isn't very good in powering the motor. Has anyone had any experience with the above motors. Any help/guidance will be much appreciated

Many 500 clones have pitifully weak power supplies in them and wont drive a motor. There are numerous references to this problem across the forum.

However the only real way to "suck it and see", and if its too bad buy a decent receiver.

I have read those posts but also have read posts that say that there is no problem. I have a psu that has a 2a and my cable run is very short so hopefully will work. But as you say the only real way is to 'suck it and see'. Just wondered if anyone had any comments on the above motors. I live in Spain and those are the ones i have found locally

I have been looking at changing my Diseqc and having read alot of threads on this forum and spoken to a number of people with first hand experience I came to the conclusion that the Clarke Tech HH390 is the best value for money motor .
The 500s is a nice box but its hit and miss with it driving motors. Some work great ,others dont.

Chuck the Dreambox 500 away and buy a proper receiver

The only way to guarentee that you won't have any problems is to get a receiver thats upto the job.

If your going to go for a Dreambox set your sights at a DM600PVR as the minimum.

An other alternative is to try the Technomate TM500/600 which is only marginally more expensive and has a power supply thats upto the job.
