HI ALL

Well, I have been told some untruths in my time, but this takes the cake! When I got a reduction on my Sky package back in August, I was informed by the person on the other end of the phone line that I could cancel this any time I wanted. WRONG! Someone at Sky told me today that I am locked into this "contract" until August 2015. It annoys me greatly that I will have to pay £14.75 for the next 6 months, but you know what? I really don't care. I have put my Freesat Recorder on as I want nothing more to do with them. They can stick their poison challis where the sun does not shine! I was ready to smash the Sky+ machine as I was in a not-too-good-mood to be told that.

Why can't some of those "people" be truthful from the start instead of telling fairy stories. GRRRRRR! :-Guill

These organisations might find that being scrupulous at all times actually improves retention.

Sadly, like so much else in life, everything is tailored to getting the dosh in now.

I wholeheartedly agree with you, Tivu. They are nothing more than a money-making racket and I'll be celebrating when I ring to cancel on July 7th.

Sky have always been a bunch of lying barristers, Virgin Media aren't much better either.

The thing i learned with Sky is to ask for everything in writing, that way then they haven't got a leg to stand on. They ring me every few months to try and get me to sign up with them and every time i tell them firmly where to go.

I cancelled in 1995......or thereabouts, still on 19.2e and analogue anyway.
When did OnDigital start up?
Edit: Sky had just started rolling out the digital services and were starting to move to 28.2e, so around 1998ish

The only time I considered getting Sky was when we had the DTT switchover. Whilst investigating what was available, costs etc I decided to get a Freesat set up. That's when I discovered this forum and learnt about foreign TV and motorised satellites etc. I have never looked back and can see all that I want to. I cannot fore see a situation where I will subscribe to Sky either now or in the future! :D

I'm even considering paying Sky off to get rid of them fully. I, too, have a motorised dish - 1m gibby.

Assuming all calls are recorded for 'training purposes' ask for a recording of the original one when they promised the earth.

Sky are really pushing it now on the German market 19.2 and it looks like alot cheaper than the UK - trying to get their toe in the door. With all the good content on the German free view I can't see them doing it.

I cancelled at very similar time, I just got the Videocypt decoder to sit on top of my Amstrad SRX400 when they started charging i think about £5 a month for the odd encrypted movie on thursday evening. I then moved onto the Pace MSS1000 with its Great VFD display and this is the time when you could actually use there subscription card in any receiver of your choice. Those where the days never subscribed since

The only people that are interested in Sky Germany are the people that used to sub to Sky UK :D
