Got a small problem

My son played with the screen resolution of his computer, and he put it so much up that now the screen is black. I tried to connect it to my 17" screen, still it won't work.

It is working on windows 2000. Tried to go in save mode or VHS mode, which works ok, but I can't change it back to normal.

Anyone knows how to solve this problem?

T_G I think if you go into system properties under safe mode and right click to delete the card, then reboot and let it boot normally you should have a default driver installed or even the correct one but in a better mode.

as topvette says press F8 to boot into safe mode with minimal drivers. it will be VGA mode i think 640 x 480 so all your screen icons will be fooked. when you get to the desktop, right click and highlight properties and then set resolution to 1024x768 or 800x600, then click on start and reboot. hopefully you should have your screen up and running again.

I do not think you can alter it in safe mode as it loads minimal default drivers in safe mode, that is why I suggested deleting the card and letting Windows reinstall it.

You can alter it in safe mode as I made a similar error when rebuilding a friends computer. Used my own monitor with the resolution set to 1280x1024. Took it back to them and fired it up on the original monitor and all the XP startup stuff showed and then nothing. Jaw hit the floor, realised what I had done and phoned a friend.... When you hit F8 on boot you get the option to run in VGA mode and you can then change the display resolution.

Yes, I believe that's correct. Just set it to something sensible this time, but deleting the driver is a good alternative suggestion
