Got Astra 2B! (and who said in-line amplifier won't help for weak signal?)

My Satellite Setup
Covering 30W-105.5E range, two motors, C and Ku band. Various receivers/cards/cams/etc.

Republic of Georgia
Hello, after my success with 19.2E, I've decided to try my powers with 28E. Surprisingly, I got some results!

I was able to receive some of Astra 2B northen beams!

12012V
12070H
12090V
12382H
12460H

These signals were received with good signal strength. Just for curiosity, I've plugged in cheap 20db in line amplifier, and surprisingly - got one more transponder 12402V, and signal strength of others also increased.

Hooked DVB-S2 receiver - got 12324V as well, with good strength also.
 
I have never understood why so many ppl diss thse in line amps, they seem to work for a lot of ppl

Which size dish did you use for 28E ?

Also have you tried 1G 23.5 E ?
11739V is 63% on my receiver in Cyprus

No, I think they work in certain circumstances for some people, but as a general rule, if you haven't got a long cable run to compensate for (or a multiswitch or stacked DiSEqC switches), they will not improve reception of very weak satellites.
 
I 've got 3 Frq with 110CM offset dish and cheap LnB 1year ago.

pubs channels not opening with C/S.I was looking for WWE Raw live.
 
My hardware used during this test was: 1.5m primefocus dish, Inverto LNB, modded startrack sr-55x receiver. Pitty that larger dishes cost unreasonably high :(1.5m costs $40, 3m costs $1200!)

I will try 23.5E as weather will get fine (you can notice in video, yesterday was cloudy, today we have snow)

It's interesting, is Smash Hits channel available at C/S ? from the tv guide, I see that this channel may have some old great videos.
 
Great, will have a try to get C/S for it.

Another wrestling fan here as I see... :)
SKY Sports channels with live WWE action were the biggest reason why I bought and installed 110cm SAT dish and pointed it to 28E... :)

If we are talking about 28E reception here on Latvia, that 2D without at least 2M dish is unreachable. One man in Liepāja (it's the biggest town on west) receives some transponders with BBC1, BBC2 and some ITV channels. But, first rain and they disappear..
Other transponders - no problems, only here, where I live - on eastern side of Latvia, sometimes we have problems with South beams...
 
We have now same heavy wind, which destroyed my mesh dish last time. Interesting, will this solid 1.5m dish will hold on :) so far it stands still, I just came back from roof checking it, but of course, focus had gone.

Unlikely. All the 28E birds except Astra2C use western European beams. 2C has the widest coverage but even thats nowhere near favourable to India

I can throw in, however, that there are now reliable reports of reception of the same Astra 2B transponders mentioned here on a 3m dish in south western Nigeria; and several transponders on Hotbird are even received on a 2.4.

Edited: it was Astra 2B and two of the confirmed transponders are 12383H and 12402V.

Thanks for that report. Do you know what dish size and manufacturer and LNB that man in Liepaja is using?
